Cedar fence installation starts at $37 per linear foot. This is a starting price that covers standard installations. Your actual cost will vary based on fence length, height, style, terrain, and site conditions.
A straightforward 6-foot privacy fence on a flat lot will be closest to that starting price. Custom styles like horizontal, board-on-board, or estate-style designs use more material and labor, so they cost more. Slopes, rocky soil, and difficult access also affect the final number.

What Affects the Final Price
Fence length and height — more linear feet means more material. Taller fences (7 or 8 feet) require longer boards and deeper post holes.
Style and design — a flat-top privacy panel uses less material than a board-on-board or horizontal design. Custom work takes more time.
Terrain — sloped lots, tree roots, and rocky soil all add complexity. Stepped or racked panels on a hillside take more labor than a straight run on flat ground.
Old fence removal — if we’re taking out an existing fence, that’s additional labor and disposal, quoted separately.

Pressure-treated lumber costs less upfront, but it doesn’t perform as well as cedar in the Pacific Northwest climate. It’s more prone to warping, checking, and premature aging in wet conditions.
